James “Jim” Albert Strain was born June 15, 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of John Raymond and Alnown (Nothstine) Strain. He passed from this life on Monday, October 23, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 8 days.
Jim graduated from Owasso High School in 1960. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on June 30, 1968. He married Ida Marie Hudson on April 15, 1966 in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was a retired welder and a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 430. Jim volunteered with Western Neighbors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. He was of the Baptist faith.
His survivors include his wife of 51 years, Ida Marie Strain of Tulsa; 2 daughters, Dena Kennedy of Jenks and Becky Coppenger and husband, Sam of Jenks; 2 sons, Duane Strain and wife, LaDonna of Tulsa and Jimmy Strain and wife, Emmi of Osage; 2 sisters, Janet Loffer of Collinsville and Judy Fruechting and husband, Carl of Gore; 2 brothers, John David Strain and wife, Patricia of Buffalo, KS and Joe Raymond Strain and wife, Enid of Tulsa; 5 grandchildren: Keller, Kyle, Cortney, John, and Eric; and 7 great grandchildren: Braden, Holley, Kolton, Camden, Zander, Paige, and Bryce.
He was preceded in death by both parents; son in law, Robert Kennedy and brother in law, Larry Loffer.
Visitation for Jim will be held Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 8am to 8pm, with family present 6pm-8pm.
A funeral service with military honors is scheduled for 11am, Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Heath-Griffith Chapel. Service arrangements are entrusted to Heath-Griffith Funeral Home and an on-line guest book is available by visiting www.heathgriffithfuneralhome.com
On 6/15/1942 God stopped making them like this, Jim was the last one made in his particular GREAT pattern. Great in not said lightly.
